Dr. Avi Denburg

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids)

Dr. Avram Denburg is a staff oncologist and clinician-scientist in the Division of Haematology/Oncology at the Hospital for Sick Children and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. He has a Master of Science in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics, and a PhD in Health Policy from McMaster University. Dr. Denburg’s research centres on the analysis and strengthening of systems for childhood cancer care, with specific focus on issues related to diagnostic capacities and drug access for children in Canada and internationally. Dr. Denburg is Co-Chair of the Essential Medicines Committee for the International Society of Pediatric Oncology and Immediate Past Chair of the Implementation Advisory Group for Canada’s National Strategy for Drugs for Rare Diseases. He serves as Academic Director for the Board of Canada’s Drug Agency and as Chair of the Drugs & Therapeutics Committee at SickKids.
